Conceivably the finest portrait of Hall of Fame player-manager Bucky Harris, the “Boy Wonder,” this image was one of 100 selected by The Sporting News in 1981 for inclusion in their card set reintroducing the work of photographer Charles M. Conlon to the modern collecting public. Surface of the presented 6.5" x 8.5" photo remains clean with the only blemish of note appearing as a light stain in the upper right third. Clarity is outstanding with even the pilling of Harris’ wool cap clearly contrasted. Verso of photo appears virtually unblemished and free of toning common to press photos of the era. Charles Conlon’s handwritten personal notations are present along with his distinct signature. This photo is fresh to the hobby and originates from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where it has been stored for several decades until this offering. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
