Original 5" x 7" Goodwin & Co. glass plate negative emanating from the "Vermont Find." First baseman Charles Boyd is depicted in a posed throwing position with the 1888 Chicago Maroons of the Western Association. Interestingly, though there is no record of Boyd actually playing for this club, there is evidence he was signed in February of that season. This image served as the source material for Boyd's N172 Old Judge card numbered 34-2. Negative has survived the past 130+ years in outstanding overall condition with only a bit of yellowing towards the edges worthy of note.
