Fun pair of original news service photos featuring New York Giants manager John McGraw posing for photographers on Opening Day 1920. In the first presented photo, measuring 8" x 10", McGraw is receiving a large floral arrangement from child silent film stars, sisters Katherine and Jane Lee. In the second photo, measuring 5" x 7" McGraw is seen holding his margay (a South and Central American wild cat he often brought to the ballpark) while standing with Boston Braves manager George Stallings. Both photos present exceptionally well though the 8x10 is slightly out of focus. Scattered, unobtrusive wear is present to both photo surfaces, mostly in the borders where there is some tape residue and a small hole on the 5x7. Stallings and McGraw have also been outlined in preparation for print. Verso of both photos are clean, with stamping from both Paul Thompson's service on the 8x10 and International stamping on the 5x7. 8x10 also includes inscription pertaining to Opening Day. Photos are fresh to the hobby and originate from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where they have been stored for several decades until this offering. Guaranteed Type 1.
