Popular Hall of Famer Whitey Ford was one of several important baseball figures to pass away in 2020, the title of Greatest Living Yankee bestowed upon him for nearly five years after the passing of Yogi Berra, the last surviving member of the Yankees' 1956 championship team. Ford's #1 card from the 1951 Bowman issue is his first, and easily his most popular card. The Chairman signed the card boldly in blue Sharpie, grading a MINT 9 by PSA/DNA, who also assessed the card at a 1.5 - a technically accurate grade that does not effectively describe its eye appeal.
