Outstanding Boston Red Sox stock certificate, signed in dark fountain pen by team owner Joseph Lannin. The certificate was issued to August Hermann, whop was president of the Cincinnati Reds for 25 years. The certificate presents Hermann with 40 shares of stock, and has been signed twice by Lannin and once by Hermann. The certificate has been cancelled and is noted as such across the face in pencil. Pencil markings appear elsewhere on the piece, which presents extremely well but does exhibit wear along the right edge that includes two corner clips. The edge wear implies that the certificate was, at some point, stored in a ledger book or folder of some kind. Despite the pencil markings, the piece makes for an outstanding display, issued just two months after the Red Sox 1916 World Championship. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
