Beautiful 1960 Tim McAuliffe/KM Pro cap, size 7, as worn by Bobby Thomson in his last pro season.  Thomson was traded by the Cubs to the Red Sox for pitcher Al Schroll at the conclusion of the 1959 season, and played just 40 games before being released on July 1.  Thomson, who hit the legendary pennant-clinching home run in 1951, latched on with Baltimore for three games before being released and retiring.  For Boston, the 36-year-old outfielder batted .263 in 114 at bats, with five home runs and 20 RBI.

The cap exhibits moderate use, with significant wear around the headband.  The hat itself exhibits wear, though the cloth is dark and clean.  Thomson's name and uniform number are written on the inside brim, which Thomson subsequently signed and personalized to a Robert P. Kirk.  An outstanding historical document from the final season of a beloved player.  Full LOA from MEARS.
