Few postwar vintage cards have risen in value more in recent years than the rookie card of Hall of Fame outfielder Willie Mays. Long languishing behind the rookie card of Mickey Mantle from the same issue, the Mays has begun to skyrocket, still outpaced by his Yankee counterpart but not as markedly as in past years. This example is a well-centered one, a collector-grade card with extremely strong eye appeal due to centering and color. A few surface indentations are visible upon close examination, and some print snow is evident in the black text box where Mays' name appears, minor flaws given the grade and desirability of the card.
