Outstanding real photo postcard featuring the 1906 Des Moines Champs of the Western League a team that featured a number of future major leaguers most notably pitcher Ed Cicotte (front row second from right). Cicotte would post a record of 18-9 with the club against a 2.56 ERA. Cicotte would play one more season in the minors before being purchased by the Boston Red Sox where he would become a star eventually being banished from the game as being part of the 1919 "Black Sox " The postcard appears in G-VG condition though the image is strong and clear. Some corner and surface wear is evident as is edge chipping. Postally unused additional wear is evident on what is an otherwise clean back.
