Outstanding midgrade "Red Background" portrait card of Hall of Famer Ty Cobb with a tougher Polar Bear Tobacco reverse. The image quality and overall sharpness of the card has resulted in a grade of VG/EX+ 4.5 by SGC the card devoid of much of the tobacco staining common with the Polar Bear advertising back. Print registration is also stronger than is often seen with this card the detail is sharp and crisp. The dark blue Polar Bear ad back is also strong some light staining here and there not enough to detract from the quality of the ad. All four of the Ty Cobb cards in the T206 have enjoyed explosive growth in popularity in recent years the cards often fetching record pricing at auction. Midgrade examples like this are extremely desirable and have consistently increased in value over the years.
