The 1962 Topps baseball set is one of the more difficult Topps issues to obtain in high-grade primarily because the faux-woodgrain borders of the cards are easily chipped and damaged with wear. The result is a preponderance of lower-grade cards which are undeniably less attractive. Clean sharp 1962 Topps cards however are extremely attractive with eye appeal that rivals any of the other Topps issues from the period the woodgrain borders offsetting the color images of the cards and creating one of the hobby's more interesting designed. The set is filled with specialty cards including All-Stars World Series cards statistical leaders Babe Ruth highlights and more. Added to this is the presence of 93 cards between card numbers 110 and 196 which are available with a slightly greenish tone creating a much larger Master Set to add to the challenge of completion. The condition challenge coupled with the "green tint" cards the many difficult subsets and tough high number series make this a popular set among collectors. Presented here is a spectacular high-grade complete Master Set the majority of which falls into the EX-MT to NM range. The set is simply gorgeous the overwhelming majority of the cards in the Basic Set exhibiting razor-sharp corners and edges with clear vivid photography. The set was patiently assembled by an extremely diligent and condition-consgious collector who carefully upgraded by purchasing high-grade lots paying specific attention to the quality of the corners and edges. The result is a set that grades approximately 6% NM-MT and better; 26% NM; 41% EX/MT; 23% EX; 4% VG/EX with a few lesser and a few trimmed. The primary culprit resulting in grades EX or lesser is simply centering as the great majority of the cards are extremely sharp. The "green tint" subset grades slightly lesser with a larger percentage of EX condition cards and more issues related to corner and edge wear. 48 of the cards have been graded by PSA. This is simply a fantastic set.
