Outstanding meeting invitation and dues receipt from the 1867 Rollstone Base Ball Club. The Rollstone club was based in Fitchburg Massachussetts one of the early New England teams that actually won the championship of the "Fifth Base Ball District" in 1867. One of the earliest sets of baseball-related documents we have handled the invitation announces the meeting on December 18 with the goal "to make arrangements for settling all the accounts of the club for the season." Accompanying the invitation is a handwritten receipt given to W. Allison (likely a player on the team) for payment of his dues on April 3 of that same year. The two pieces are in excellent condition well-preserved with age and storage-related folding as well as some minow wear at the edges. An exceptional pair of documents of one of the earliest organized baseball clubs in the history of the game.
