The most popular issue of the gum card era the R319 Goudey set of 1933 featured colorful illustrations of all the stars of the period. Four Babe Ruth cards made this issue highly sought after by the youth of the day and the set"s popularity has endured for nearly 80 years. Even today the 1933 Goudey set is bested only by T206 and N172 as the most popular prewar card issue in the baseball hobby.This particular card a beautiful example of the card of "The Beast " boasts excellent color and a strong surface but has been graded AUTHENTIC by PSA possibly due to what appears to be a reconstructed upper left corner (though we cannot inspect the card edges properly for trimming while the card is in its holder).
