Interesting postcard depicting the 1917 Georgia Tech "Golden Tornado" team dated 191 from the F.E. Lee company. The postcard features John Heisman head coach of the team (back row fourth from left) and also Hall of Famer Joe "Big Chief" Guyon (back row second from left). The 1917 team was 9-0 winning the national championship with Guyon at halfback. In an 83-0 rout of Vanderbilt Guyon rushed 12 times for 344 yards. Technically the postcard is in poor condition thanks to two large holes on either end likely one-time tack holes that simply grew over time. A large crease is also evident more visible on the back than the front. The word "Carpenter" has been written in pencil at the lower-left and subsequently erased. Additional erasures can be seen throughout likely once identifying players in the photo. Despite all this the photo itself is clear and the contrast strong the images of Heisman and Guyon easily visible and identifyable. An outstanding card featuring two key Hall of Famers.
