One of the more widely-recognized and sought-after cards in the N172 issue is that of Art Whitney posed with a dog. The card is the photographer's attempt at a joke as Whitney was a journeyman player with a reputation for jumping from team to team. In Whitney's 11-year major league career he played with eight teams. He jumped from the National League to the American Association to the Player's League. He poses here with a dog - the ultimate symbol of loyalty - as an exercise in two extremes. The card has been graded GOOD 2 (MK) by PSA the MK referencing vintage writing appearing on the reverse of the card including Whitney's name position date and team along with what appears to be another name and a date. Apparently period in nature we find it interesting and certainly not something to detract from the card. If anything speculating about what the writing might be and from where it may have originated only adds to its appeal! An outstanding card one of the more widely-recognized of the entire issue.
I have one to sell!
