Simply wonderful early 1920s original Underwood & Underwood news service photo of Babe Ruth in his Yankees road grays pensive expression on his face as he stands outside the dugout steps at an unknown ballpark. The 7 1/2" x 8 5/8" photo is well worn with creases and folds consistent with cropping and folding consistent with its use. The reverse is rich with editorial markings paper remnants as well as the Underwood & Underwood stamping. Some mild restoration work has been performed on the photo mostly to remove some editorial markings on the front and to trim away some unsightly creasing and irregular edges along with some slight inpainting that appears to have taken place in various areas near Ruth's cap. Still the image is strong a beautiful depiction of the game's greatest player as his legend began to grow. In an auction filled with Ruth photos this is one of the finest and most unique we have seen a wonderful display of vintage sports photography. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
