Interesting 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" Underwood & Underwood news original photo picturing Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson at bat following through on his swing. The slug still attached at the reverse carries a date of September 3 1925 making it likely that the date the photo was taken was Tuesday September 1 1925 at Griffith Stadium. Johnson pitched a complete game that day defeating the Philadelphia Athletics for his 18th win of the season. Interestingly Johnson went 3-for-4 with two doubles in the 7-3 Senators' win likely prompting the author of the caption to write "Johnson besides being the leading pitcher of the League is no mean batter; and has a particular fondness for winning his own games by a timely two-bagger." The photo is in outstanding condition a few long wrinkles and overall waviness consistent with its use the reverse stampings clear and clean. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
