Offensive lineman Joe Dudeck was captain of the 1951 UNC Tar Heels football team the Hazleton Pennsylvania native earning All Conference honors in 1950. He appeared in the 1950 Cotton Bowl aagainst the Rice University Owls (Rice defeated the Tar Heels by a 27-13 margin) UNC's last Bowl Game appearance until their 35-0 pasting of Air Force Academy in the 1963 Gator Bowl. Presented here is a heavy woolen blanket as issued to the outstanding young lineman his honors sewn onto the blanket's edge along with the UNC logo. The heavy blue wool is accented by white felt piping and Dudeck's name is embroidered on the underside. The blanket remains in outstanding condition with few blemishes the white piping and lettering toned in some areas with age. A seldom-seen artifact from one of the most loved teams in all of college sports an outstanding and highly desirable football collectible.
