Early collection of sketches that originally appeared in the Harvard Lampoon and were republished in 1877 by J.R. Osgood & Co. The Lampoon is one of the country's longest-running humor/satire publications and this example is in exceptional condition with some visible surface and edge wear relating primarily to the age along with some moderate separation at the spine. Among the sketches inside is a very early (and primitive) illustration of a Harvard/Yale baseball game. At the time of publication the two teams had played each other just eight times their long-running rivalry just beginning to blossom. An exceptional piece with a very early baseball illustration.
