I have one to sell!
Though our initial catalog description of this item listed it as a "proof " subsequent research has led us to list this as a full ticket to the 1946 exhibition at New York's Polo Grounds that pitted teams of "all-stars" assebled by Jackie Robinson and Chuck Dressen against one another. Our original assessment of the ticket as a proof was rendered because no box number is printed on the ticket. However in researching similar tickets to this game we have encountered several examples none of which had a seat number printed in that section of the ticket. As such we believe that box numbers were not assigned to ticketholders. Sadly the game was canceled as reported in the Brooklyn Eagle on October 1 likely due to cold weather that postponed other sporting events that day. The ticket itself is in VG/EX condition a small paper notch at the upper left edge and minor corner wear being the item's only real flaws. An excellent memento of a time when such exhibitions were not just sporting events but important social statements.
