Loaded with rookie cards and Hall of Famers the 1965 Topps set is not filled with variations that make constructing a master set difficult. Featuring sharp color player photography set against a colored border Topps" 1965 issue continued the company"s string of winning card designs that began in 1963 which featured a card design that depended heavily on photography and much less on graphic design. Topps continued to hone that strategy throughout the middle part of the decade culminating in the beautiful 1967 set before launching the questionable 1968 design. This is a collector-grade set assembled by an avid collector of cards and paper ephemera in the 1980s. Because there were limited avenues through which to purchase cards in the 80s assembling a truly high-grade set was extremely difficult and collectors often settled for lower-grade cards to fill their sets. Despite that this is an extremely attractive set colorful and bold with most of the condition issues restricted to corner wear and centering problems. The set grades out approximately 4% EX/MT or better 19% EX 44% VG/EX 30% VG and 3% lesser grades. This overlap created a large number of eventual Hall of Famers playing all at once and the 1965 Topps
