Very rare and desirable pennant commemorating the Red Sox' 1912 Championship season. Measuring just 16 1/2" x 6" the piece has been framed to a finished size of approximately 26" x 13" and presents wonderfully. The exciting 1912 World Series between Boston and New York lasted eight games many attributing the extra inning "muff" by Giants outfielder in Game 8 as the contest's deciding play. Smoky Joe Wood coming off an incredible 34-5 season won three games in the Series. Very few examples of this style of penant are known to exist the majority of those recently made available for public sale have been marred by significant wear holes and missing pieces. This particular example presents wonderfully having undergone some professional and virtually undetectable restoration work to repair some damage to the felt using only material from the original pennant with no new material added. The result is a solid VG appearance with some very minor wear spots along the reinforced edge and visibly worn (and in the case of the top missing) tassels. Still an outstanding historical document and wonderful display.
