Exceptional card from the scarce H804-8 Sporting Life issue one of the more colorful beautiful and desirable of all the 19th Century baseball trade card sets. Featuring colorful Victorian illustrations on the front and (usually) an ad for Sporting Life magazine on the reverse the H804-8 cards are in high demand among 19th Century collectors largely due to their beautiful illustrations. This example graded FAIR 20 by SGC received its low grade due in part to the corner crease (which appears more like a tear on the reverse but is much less visible on the front) along with the reverse which is slightly marred by pencil marking in the upper-right corner as well as the typical glue residue from scrapbook mounting. Still it is the beauty of the front that makes the card so desirable and this is an outstanding example.
