Beautiful pair of Hall of Fame portraits featuring two of the most popular sports figures in New York in the early 1930s in Giants" manager Bill Terry and Yankee second baseman Tony Lazzeri. Lazzeri playing not only in the shadow of Babe Ruth but also of Lou Gehrig still managed to distinguish himself as a Yankee great and one of the most popular Italian-American players ever. Terry one year prior to uttering his infamous challenge to the Brooklyn Dodgers captained the World Champion Dodgers to a 91-61 record 5 games ahead of the Pirates for the NL pennant. Both boasting excellent color centering and slightly rounded corners the Terry has attained a grade of VG/EX 4 from PSA and the Lazzeri a VG/EX 4 with an MK qualifier. The qualifier due to some erased ink marks on the upper-left corner of the front has a minor impact on the card"s appeal largely due to the erasure not removing too much of the card"s yellow background. An excellent pair of cards from one of the hobby"s most popular and enduring gum issues.
