I have one to sell!
Issued in 1910 the 30-card set referred to simply by their ACC designation of “E98” still remains a mystery. With color lithographs set against a solid background each of the cards can be found with four different backgrounds – red green blue and orange. Prior to 2012 the E98 cards were considered relatively difficult to find. The “Black Swamp Find” of that year flooded the hobby with more than 700 new examples each of high grade (and mostly with red backgrounds). To date PSA has graded 609 high-grade examples from the Black Swamp Find nearly doubling their total graded population. Since the discovery we have considered the “Black Swamp” cards to be a separate set distinct from the E98s that were actually distributed in their year of issue. Those cards remain relatively difficult to obtain with all 30 cards available in all four different colors and condition and eye appeal continuing to be at a premium. While “Black Swamp” cards in higher grade are relatively common today due to their recent introduction to the hobby we maintain that “original” E98s are fascinating and beautiful with some very difficult player/color combinations and a fantastic overall player selection. We’re thrilled to offer a large grouping of “original” E98s in various colors representing more than two-thirds of a complete set. We hope you enjoy the originals as much as we do! Graded VG 40 this is a sharp collector grade example depicting Chief Bender with a dark red background. Corner wear being the primary flaw the rounding is even and pronounced.
