Well-worn but still spectacular team cabinet photo featuring the Oakland Walkovers a smipro team sponsored by the WalkOver Shoe Company. Future Hall of Famer Edd Roush found his first paying baseball job with this team earning one dollar per game. Roush remained with the team until jumping the team in 1911 in favor of a better offer but his time with the team became well-known due to the inclusion of a photo of himself in his Walkovers uniform that was published in the book The Glory of Their Times. The cabinet measures approximately 10" x 8" its stylized cardboard mount reflecting considerable wear at the surface corners and reverse (along with typical writing on the reverse). The photo itself is also well-worn though the wear is restricted to the surface in the form of heavy soiling and mild surface abrasions. Despite all this the photo itself is clear with exceptional contrast (Roush can be seen in the back row without a sweater cap tilted sideways on his head). An outstanding "pre-rookie" image of one of the game's Hall of Fame players depicted here at the very dawn of his professional career.
