I have one to sell!
Polish-American middleweight Stanley Ketchel did not make it long past the production of this card sadly. A great championship Ketchel fought to a 53-5-5 record winning the championship by knocking out Mike "Twin" Sullivan in 1908. In 1909 a fearless Ketchel stepped into the ring with the great Jack Johnson (footage can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp20AKdyyXg&feature=player_embedded ) and was knocked out cold. Still hoping for a rematch with Johnson Ketchel was murdered by a farmhand in 1910 when he was just 24 years old.The card is an attractive midgrade example with very strong color and gloss but the unfortunate indent of a pinhole near the upper-right corner. Edges and corners have mild wear perhaps a VG/EX card save for the pinhole. The reverse which features the 1-76 checklist also includes no Turkey Red ad under the checklist on the reverse. These are scarce variations highly sought after by collectors. An outstanding example of a difficult variation of a great champion and long-forgotten tragic story.
