Extremely rare 1906 postcard issue featuring members of the Philadelphia Athletics. Each postcard features a black and white photo of the subject in street clothes surrounded by an ornate border and beautifully lettered type. Very few of the cards are known to exist and it has been thought that the issue was never actually distributed. Virtually all the known examples are in poor condition the majority of which contain a handwritten position on the front of the card near the player's name. This example of Topsy Hartsel's card has been predictably graded POOR 10 by SGC. Postallu used in 1906 the card was addressed to Mr. Richard Hopkins of Gordon PA and postmarked from Kensington Station. Despite the technical grade it is the postal use and writing that is responsible for the majority of the card's condition flaws and the overall presentation is still very strong.
