Issued on the backs of Post Grape Nuts cereal in 1960 this oversized issue measures 7" x 8 3/4" and number nine cards in total including five baseball players two football and two basketball. Among all the subjects Mantle is the undisputed key with high-grade examples fetching thousands. High grade examples however are rare due to the cards' size method of distribution and propensity for pinholes and various stains. In fact while the issue is scarce and graded examples even more so the fact that no graded Mantle example has achieved a grade higher than VG should serve as a guideline for how difficult it is to obtain attractive examples of this card. This example of Mantle does feature a pinhole just above Mantle's cap along with a stain to his left. The corners and edges are worn and a series of creases run around the frame of the card as if it may have once been folded to show only the image of Mantle and his pink background. Regardless the card is challenging to locate always selling for a premium due to the scarcity of the issue. A captivating card.
