Expanding on 1960's "Baseball Greats" theme Fleer in 1961 issued a much larger set in the process adding players like Art Nehf and Ossie Bluege in an attempt to redefine the word "great." Still the set contains a wide selection of players that represent both true greats and fan favorites thus serving as an outstanding document of baseball's early days and a fantastic way to remember players that are not often discussed today. Presented is an appealing set very pleasing to the eye and yet not unaffordably high-grade. The cards are colorful and bright primarily with clear images the majority of the wear relegated to the corners. Grading 2% EX-MT or better; 3% EX; 15% VG-EX; 30% VG; 28% GOOD; 16% FAIR and 6% POOR this represents a simple and affordable way of acquiring what is perhaps the most interesting set in Fleer's early baseball run. 154 cards total.
