Extraordinarily difficult to find and highly prized among type card collectors the T211 Red Sun Cigarettes set were issued in 1910 and features 75 players from the Southern Association. Extremely condition-sensitive due to chipping along the cards' green borders as well as ubiquitous damage to the cards' surface gloss it is likely the vibrant Red Sun Cigarettes back advertisement that makes these cards so appealing to type cards in particular. Presented is a higher-grade example featuring James La Fitte of New Orleans. Graded an impossibly high EX/NM 80 the card exhibits very little wear primarily found in minor chipping along the edges and corners. The beautiful Red Sun logo on the reverse is vibrant and dark the finest example we have seen. Of all the Red Sun Cigarettes cards to be graded between both SGC and PSA only one - a PSA 6.5 - have graded higher than EX-MT.
