I have one to sell!
Simply stunning Carl Horner studio cabinet photo featuring the young Beaneaters outfielder Johnny Bates. Bates who spent three seasons with Boston (1906 through part of 1909 before moving to the Phillies) ultimately played nine years in the Majors compiling a .278 lifetime batting average with 1 087 hits. At 31 years old Bates jumped to the Federal League with 242 at bats with the 1914 Baltimore Terrapins. As with most Horner studio portraits the photograph is beautiful the uniformed subject standing out against the dark background. The cabinet has received a grade of VG 40 from SGC due largely to staining and discoloration that appears on both the front and back (some of which appears to be moisture stains). However the wear does not significantly disrupt the beauty of the image. Carl Horner is one of the most famous baseball photographers his work particularly desirable among collectors today. This example is a beautiful specimen featuring a lesser-known player.
