Thought to have been produced as a tribute to Babe Ruth just months after his death this 3 7/8" x 5 5/8" card was distributed by the Pacific Coast Sports Publishing News as a free premium with a subscription to Pacific Coast Baseball News. This example considered a "Type 2" card ("Type 1" had "Compliments of AAPBC" printed at the bottom of the card). Statistics on the reverse chronicle both Ruth's pitching and hitting exploits as well as his World Series records all prefaced with "George Herman Ruth a mighty man was he" The card is in outstanding condition having been well-preserved in its original mailing envelope which was mailed from Los Angeles to Massachusetts in January of 1949. The card remained in the same collection until just recently when it was consigned to Love of the Game with a large autograph collection.
