Initially constructed in 1965 and named Turnpike Stadium Arlington Stadium was renamed such in 1971 when the Washington Senators moved to Texas and became the Rangers. A former minor league park the stadium was the fourth minor league park converted for use by a Major League team and was probably the least attractive of the four. Until the upper deck was constructed in 1978 fans entered at the top of the stadium and walked to their seats with a bleacher section that stretched from foul pole to foul pole. The third-base grandstands could be swiveled to the outfield permitting the stadium to be enlarged for football games. The stadium was finally demolished at the end of the 1993 season. A new ballpark initially called the Ballpark In Arlington opened in April of 1994 and has been known as Ameriquest Field Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and now Globe Life Park in Arlington. Presented are three tickets documenting the Rangers' Arlington ballparks. The first two are from the October 3 1993 game against the Kansas City Royals - the final game at Arlington Stadium. Kansas City defeated Texas 4-1 in that game behind the 18th victory from ace hurler Kevin Appier. The two tickets are a computer-printed upper deck ticket as well as what appears to be a season ticket. Both are in EX/MT condition. The third ticket is from April 11 1994 the first official game at The Ballpark In Arlington against the Milwaukee Brewers (the first actual game was an exhibition game that took place April 1 against the Mets). In the first official game the Brewers defeated the Rangers 4-3 the Rangers' late-inning comeback thwarted by a tough Milwaukee bullpen that included Graeme Lloyd Jesse Orosco and Bob Scanlan. The ticket appears to be in EX condition with some wear along the perforated edges but a very strong colorful display.
