A collection of 14 S22 Murad Cigarettes baseball silks. These color panels measuring approximately 3 1/2 x 5 1/2" were distributed in packs of Murad tobacco and are part of a 250-subject set of various sports with the baseball subjects comprising two different designs. Each of the 25 colleges represented in the set include a pitcher and a batter (and also feature football golf and hockey players none of which are featured here) with each school"s player wearing the school"s "uniform " and the college name and seal printed above or below the player.These silks are not often seen in larger groups with the baseball players not often found together like this. Included in this collection are the batter and pitcher poses from Michigan Annapolis California Colorado Illinois Missouri and West Point. Each of the silks present strongly with rich color and clean surfaces each containing the wrinkles and folds consistent with being made of cloth material and being 100 years old. The Colorado and West Point pitcher silks have wavy left borders that could be indicators of a long-ago scissor cut although both measure the appropriate size.An excellent collection of rarely-found tobacco silks a colorful memento of college baseball history.
