Outstanding version of the Wheaties "fancy frames" box card, whose original collector included the product label when trimming this Hall of Fame card to its framed image. Presents far better than its PSA GOOD 2 technical grade, considering the well-cut borders. (Residue on the reverse and light marks on the Wheaties panel contribute to that number.) Holds great appeal for collectors of standout visual cards, Hall of Fame members, two sports athletes, and many more.
Ernie Nevers became one of the great football players of his era, gaining induction as part of the inaugural classes to both the College and Pro Football Hall of Fames. A multi-sport athlete, he also pitched for the 1926 St. Louis Browns and joined the NFL's Duluth Eskimos for their 1926 season, continuing as a two-sport athlete through 1928. He coached baseball and football at Stanford in 1928 and then joined the Chicago Cardinals in 1929, reflecting two of many roles he handled as a lifelong sportsman.
