Interesting "0"-prefixed script variation of Boston outfielder Joe Hornung, catalogued as #235-2 in The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Company. At least two versions of Joe's nameplate exist under different teams, one with all block text (New York) and this partially scripted version (Boston). We can expect New York's nameplate to be harder to find, as he joined those Giants for 1890, the last year Goodwin released new N172 cards. This 1887 example is also scarce, however.
The PSA VG-EX 4 grade outranks all others known on combined population reports, thanks to its good image quality, modest contrast, and clean surfaces. Touched corners and specks of surface wear are often the least of problems for N172 collectors, but they're the only notable factors holding this fine example back from even higher scores!
