Left-side infielder Billy Shindle hovered around championship rosters for much of his pro career, logging terrific defensive numbers and often playing with future Hall of Fame players. His N172 image therefore suits that on-field mentality, as Shindle no doubt practiced his craft with focus and regularity. For all the pretense in suspending balls from string for this Old Judge set, almost every professional player knew what to do when on the field, whatever their uniform!

This PSA VG-EX 4 grade follows from its light corner wear, surface spot at left, and similar handling marks on the reverse. Centering sits a bit eastward. The central image remains stronger than most, with Billy's striped cap and jersey discernible and impressive. The PSA population report shows three graded examples for this pose, with just one higher (an EX 5)! The image also appears as #415-2's reference image on page 379 of the Old Judge book by Miller, Gonsowski, and Masson. Love of the Game is proud to offer several cards seen in their outstanding work of research and presentation as part of our 100+ N172 listings.
