Otto Schomberg had his own 15 minutes of fame in late 1886 as one side of the first player-for-player trade ever made in the National League, as Alex McKinnon went from the Maroons to the Alleghenys and vice versa for Otto. Its seminal moment had limited impact, as Schomberg was purchased by a new team before the 1887 season started (he played that year with the same Indianapolis on his jersey). Then as now, baseball remains a business.

This SGC VG 3 grade shows acceptable edge and corner wear for its technical grade, with an image that's about average in detail and clarity. The spots of surface wear above his shoulder and below that elbow justify its lower grade, and his nameplate's tougher to read than some others. The SGC population report notes five graded for this pose, with none higher! Scarcity once again tells the story for many Old Judge cards, Otto included.
