Interesting ticket from a 1962 game between the Los Angeles Jets and Hawaii Chiefs of the short-lived American Basketball League, a league formed by Harlem Globetrotters owner Abe Saperstein with the intention of being a rival to the NBA. The ABL was the first basketball league with a 3-point shot and also had an 18-foot wide free throw lane and a 30-second shot clock. Their head coach was Hall of Famer Bill Sharman. Originally named the Hawaii Aliis (a name for Hawaiian royalty), the team changed their name to the Chiefs after locals informed owner Art Kim that the name Aliis was only to be associated with royalty. The ABL folded in December of 1962 after just one year. The ticket is in EX condition, appearing to have been canceled with three hole punches.
