Opening Day for the 1958 San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers marked a unique day in baseball history - the first Major League Baseball game on the West Coast, between two West Coast teams. Played at Seals Stadium, the Giants shut down the Dodgers, 8-0, behind the pitching of Ruben Gomez, who scattered six hits and six walks in the shutout effort. Darryl Spencer and Orlando Cepeda contributed home runs for San Francisco. The official scorecard is unscored, in apparent EX condition with some minor wear at the edges. Accompanying the scorecard is a ticket stub from the game, technically in POOR condition due to paper remnants on the reverse from scrapbook removal. Eye appeal is far stronger, however. An excellent memento documenting the expansion of baseball in the television era.
