Tom McCord appears to have never left the California League, his publicly available stats indicating he remained in San Francisco through 1885, Oakland in 1888, and back to San Francisco in 1896. While Baseball-Reference does not indicate a position for McCord, newspaper accounts indicate he was a shortstop (see attached news clip), and continued to appear at San Francisco baseball Old-Timers events as late as 1950. This exceedingly rare cabinet exhibits wear, primarily throughout the mount, with some scuffing in the image area and some uneven toning, likely the result of exposure to acidic paper during storage at some point. Still, a historically important cabinet photo documenting one of the great early West Coast teams.
