Our condoloences to the lad stuck inside and lamenting a week without baseball (horrors!) for this advertising trade card, titled "An Accurate Barometer," and printed to hawk for druggist O.S. McChesney of Wilson, NY. This reverse of this postcard-sized flyer does double duty by also pushing customers to try Diamond Dye and related products. Baseball-themed trade cards have grown in appeal over the 21st century, as collectors come to appreciate them as both significant ephemera and as markers for important points in the game's history itself. This SGC AUTH lost bits of back paper, likely from an album mount, but continues to show a colorful, emotional front image. A charming and unconventional piece from the era when local streets and parks were alive with baseball...as long as the rain didn't fall.
