This SGC VG/EX 4 shows one of two known issues for Jesse "Mountain" Hubbard, each offered in this auction. Its excellent central portrait captures the facial depth and detail that almost defines this set, near-perfect corners, and one slightly slanted edge. Centering looks ideal and one print mark at lower left tells us. this might be a card from the edge of its printing sheet. This is one of just ten on the SGC population report, similar to almost all known players from this scarce and beautiful set.

This card shows Hubbard in the cap for Alemendares, where he likely pitched and played the field, reflecting his multitalented stateside play. Hubbard only appears on winter league cards, the other being from 1923-24 Billiken, so every one's a treasure!
