Fred "Snake" Henry is best-known for his lengthy (25 year) minor league pro career, with stops in almost every state and multiple countries, including this 1923-24 Cuban winter league season. Snake batted well almost everywhere he suited up and transitioned to coaching and managing when age finally wore away at his on-field skills.
The SGC FR 1.5 grade reflects its notched left and top edges, with modest surface issues on each side. This rare Cuban set's printed on photo stock and vulnerable to a range of handling woes, so the majority of surviving cards are seen in low grade. SGC's population report shows just seven graded examples! Love of the Game is proud to offer a range of Caribbean issues in this auction, including many others from this tough-as-nails Cuban set.
