1929 hand-cut panel from Japan's "King" Magazine that celebrates various sports events, as catalogued JBR 67. This includes Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig making appearances dressed as cowboys and riding in a western-themed auto. Babe stands and waves with his cowboy hat, with Gehrig at left. Other cards on this panel show the Olympic Games, Davis Cup, and Finnish runner Paavo Nurmi. The PSA EX 5 grade reflects well-cut edges and corners, with clean surfaces on each side. Their population report for this panel shows eight total encapsulated and just one higher! Tough overseas issue for two legends and ambassadors of the game.
Please note the addition to the description of this item: PSA has elected to grade this panel EX 5. It should be noted, however, that the panel has been trimmed at the right edge. As a result, the cards at the right edge are a full 1/16 of an inch narrow (notable at the right border). Should the winning bidder purchase this panel with the intention of cutting the cards down, the two cards on the right - including the Ruth/Gehrig card - are not likely to receive a numerical grade due to evidence of the aforementioned trimming. We are posting this addition to the description at 1:22 pm on auction closing night and sending an errata email to all bidders on this card. If a bidder elects to cancel his/her bid as a result of this additional information, they can do so by emailing us at [email protected] prior to the beginning of extended bidding at 9:00 pm EASTERN time. The auction for this item will remain open so that bidders may still elect to win this lot with knowledge of the above additional information.
