Bright and colorful advertising display poster for Hassan Cork Tip Cigarettes, advertised as "The Oriental Smoke." The Hassan Cigarette package pictured in the ad mirrors the slide-and-shell package, which likely included the T202 "Triple Folder" cards issued in 1912. Professionally matted and framed to a finished size of approximately 25" x 31", the piece is quite striking, certainly a focal point in any room. Condition is technically FAIR due to very light moisture staining at both the left and right edges that creeps toward the center of the piece and is visible in the peach/yellow background. However, despite being noticeable, the staining is not distracting, as the poster is overall very visually pleasing. In addition to the aforementioned staining, some mild creasing and tiny edge tears can be observed only upon close inspection, primarily around the edges but also in the area just above the illustration of the cigarette pack. The frame prevents us from examining the reverse or the extreme edges of the piece, though what we can see is entirely original and without signs of restoration. This is a tremendous example of a poster that is not particularly common, and when examples do become available, they are typically dirty and heavily stained. This is one of the finest examples we have encountered.
