Panoramic photograph featuring players who participated in a September 11, 1922 Old Timers' game at Braves Field in Boston, MA. Before a reported crowd of 20,000 fans, all-star American Leaguers of yesteryear bested their National League counterparts 28-7 in a game to benefit the local Boston Children's Hospital. Future Hall of Famers Cy Young and Kid Nichols started for the American and National leagues respectively in a game that featured such legends as Cy Young, Nap Lajoie, Kid Nichols, Jesse Burkett, Johnny Evers, Jack Chesbro, and many others. Though the players are not identified on the photo itself, we have chosen to show the box score from this game listing all players involved, all of whom appear to be present in the image. An attribution crediting legendary Boston-based photographer Carl Horner appears in the lower-right corner. Several condition-related issues are present on the photo's surface, including areas of staining and several cracks in the emulsion. A fairly large piece of the upper-right corner has torn away but does little to diminish the attractiveness and dramatic impact of the overall piece. Unfortunately, we cannot speak to the condition of the edges or verso as the photo came to us as presented with the matting and framing already in place. Overall framed dimensions of 13.5" x 48" with the image itself measuring 8" x 43".
