Fantastic portrait photo of young rookie Joe DiMaggio in 1936. The wenty-one-year-old five-tool superstar, Joltin' Joe set a franchise record for rookies that season with 29 home runs before helping the Yankees capture their first of four consecutive World Series championships from 1936-39. Remarkably clean 5" x 7" original photo shows a small spot of adhesive residue at the bottom edge and an extremely large paper caption affixed to verso details Dimaggio's significant role in the pennant race. While the paper caption is folder over and obscured, additional text we can make out clearly reads "EDITORS: This photo is intended primarily for World Series use." A great early portrait of baseball's most consistent professional hitter and one of the most celebrated athletes in American history. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
