1920s two-way player Juanelo Mirabal made an unconventional move from USA to Cuba for his baseball education and developed the skills to succeed early, already pitching well for (and against) professional black baseball squads by his mid-teens. He moved into league front offices after retiring as a player, finding success with multiple franchises. Love of the Game is proud to offer many cards of these hard-to-find Caribbean sets and stars in this auction.
The SGC VG 3 grade reflects a spot of residue on its front, a print tilt on the reverse, and what appears to be haze from an album mount. Its strong central portrait exceeds the quality seen on newspapers of its era and resembles higher technical scores. Nacionales brand cigars produced a massive, 1000-card set across many subjects of that era and their baseball series (C21-C60) includes just 40 in all. The SGC population report shows nine total for this number and just two higher!
