Fred "Snake" Henry is best-known for his lengthy (25 year) minor league pro career, with stops in almost every state and multiple countries, including this 1923-24 Cuban winter league season. Snake batted well almost everywhere he suited up and transitioned to coaching and managing when age finally wore away at his on-field skills.
The SGC EX 5 grade reflects its clear central image, clean reverse, and lack of damage. This rare Cuban issue is vulnerable to a range of handling woes, so superior images like this one could mean its original collector protected it in the company's provided album. Back text describes a mail-in offer for that album to collectors of complete, 85-card sets.
SGC's population report shows just four graded examples, with none higher! (PSA shows a single graded card for Snake at VG-EX.) Love of the Game is proud to offer a number of top-graded cards in this auction, including others from this tough-as-nails Cuban set.
